Katie Rhames, '12 - Admission
As a member of the class of 2012, Katie Rhames says she instantly felt welcomed during her first trip to New England College. And now as her sophomore year winds down, she has already accumulated a wealth of student involvement activities to add to her resume as a young, civic-minded college student.
Katie describes her decision to attend NEC as “effortless”, made easier by the warmth and sense of belonging she received from her academic advisor, staff, and her fellow NEC classmates at summer orientation.
“Nothing else compares to the community at New England College,” Katie exclaimed. “The faculty and staff work incredibly hard to ensure that you succeed in and out of the classroom. They never ‘check-out’ of their jobs, and are always available to assist you with anything you need.”
Katie describes what makes her student experience unique at NEC, “I feel that I have been given the chance to take full advantage of every opportunity presented to me.” Katie is not only a member of a sorority, but she also serves on Student Senate, has been a summer orientation leader, traveled to Washington, D.C. and New York City, and met with and assisted senatorial and congressional candidates during a televised debate on campus. She has developed lasting relationships, including friendships with faculty and staff members! “NEC is making things happen for me and I love it!”
When asked what suggestions she would give to any student considering NEC, Katie offers this sage advice: “I feel that anyone who is seriously considering NEC should commit to enrolling! NEC holds worlds of potential for anyone that enters its doors. Everyone at NEC is just as committed to your success and your future as you are.”
