Program Information

New England College's School Principal Certification Program prepares educators to become certified as a School Principal in New Hampshire with a Master of Education, Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study or eligibility for a certification.

Models

Model I: 2 Years, Online
The online model consists of 40 credits taken over a 2 year period with courses being offered completely online.
There are five 7-week terms throughout the year and students may enroll any term.

Model II:  2 Years, Hybrid

The hybrid model consists of 40 credits taken over a 2 year period. Hybrid classes consist of face-to-face once a week and online discussions and written assignments due each week. There are five 7-week terms throughout the year and students may enroll any term.

Model III: 1 Year Program with a yearlong Internship & Summer Residency

                  New England College and Principal Residency Network (PRN) Partnership
The low-residency model consists of 40 credits taken over one year. There are four terms of online coursework in
which students participate throughout the year (two 15-week terms and two 7-week summer terms). The
program is designed for students to spend 1 year interning under the mentorship of a certified school principal.
Students will also participate in a week long residency during the July/August summer term.

• Psychology of Learning Communities (4 cr.)
• Dynamics of Education Reform & Systems Change (4 cr.)
• Supervision of Curriculum & Instruction (3 cr.)
• Internship: School Principal I-IV (1 cr. each)
• Research Practica I (2 cr.)
• Educational Technology Leadership (2 cr.)
• School Law (3 cr.)
• Research Practica II (2 cr.)
• School Leadership (3 cr.)
• Educational Leadership & Critical Issues (3 cr.)
• School Finance & Policy (3 cr.)
• Internship: School Principal II (2 cr.)
• Fundamentals of Ed Inquiry: Action Research (4 cr.)
*Students in Models I and II will take Portfolios I-IV and students in Model III will take Portfolios I, II & IV.

Program Outcomes:

• Communication: Effectively demonstrate the ability to communicate through verbal, well-written professional
documentation and reports, and other forms of communication to express ideas clearly, logically and persuasively.
• Management skills: Apply management skills and concepts to identify, analyze and creatively solve complex  organizational issues using creative and collaborative strategies.
• Strategic thinking: Demonstrate proficiency in thinking and planning strategically within an organization and with all associated stakeholders.
• Ethical behavior: Identify legal and ethical challenges faced by organizations, by possessing and demonstrating the insight to confront and address the issues effectively, ethically, and in a socially responsible manner.
• Collaboration and teamwork: Comprehend the challenges and opportunities of working effectively with other people in a diverse environment while displaying an understanding of the culturally and ethnically diverse nature of the changing workforce.
• Leadership: Apply necessary leadership skills required for managing change, organizational design and performance, by using collaborative and empowering strategies in an environment of life-long learning.

official college transcripts and 3 letters of recommendation.*
No GRE or GMAT scores are required.
