Interested in becoming a Peer Leader?
Peer Leader Responsibilities:
• Help plan and participate in Fall Orientation 2012
• Serve as a resource for new students for all of Academic Year 2012-2013
• Connect new students to campus resources & build community
• Promote social & academic success among new students
• Collaborate with fellow peer leaders on a variety of initiatives to engage new students
• Obtain ropes course training to lead team-building activities
• Collect and report data to Lead Connections Coordinator regularly throughout the year
Applicants must:
• Be a returning, full-time NEC student (enrolled in minimum of 12 credit hours)
• Be available to take Leadership Course: Peer Leadership Facilitation May 14 through 23, 2012
• Pass intensive Leadership Course, designed to:
o Enhance your understanding of leadership and working
effectively with your peers - particularly first-year students
o Develop skills as facilitator on the low ropes course
o Engage in problem solving activities to support your
leadership development
o Provide a full spectrum understanding of group dynamics
and team building
o Help you evaluate your own strengths and weaknesses, as
well as develop the strengths in others.
o Be prepared to be outside and put in long hours in this
course
• Be available for and provide own transportation to Fall 2012 Orientation (August 31 through September 3, 2012)
• Be in good academic and judicial standing with the College
• Be available 3-5 hours each week during the 2012-2013 academic year
