WHAT TO BRING

Remember, less is best. A good guideline is to put everything you want to bring with you in the middle of your room. Then, put half back and start weeding out half of what's left. Trust us -- on move-in day you'll be happy you did!

 

You should bring:

  • Alarm clock
  • Bed sheets (mattresses are standard twin size)
  • Clothes hangers
  • Laundry supplies (detergent, bleach, dryer sheets)
  • Mattress pad
  • Pillows
  • Telephone*
  • Towels and washcloths
  • Washable quilts and/or blankets
  • Waste basket
  • TV Cable
  • Ethernet Cord

You may want to bring:

  • Area rug *
  • Bed lifters
  • Blow dryer
  • Clothes drying rack*
  • Computer (we recommend a laptop to save space)
  • Cups, bowls, dishes, coffee mugs, and silverware*
  • Camping chairs, tables, foot rests, etc
  • Desk blotter or calendar
  • Desk supplies (pens, pencils, paper, paperclips, etc.)
  • Dictionary and thesaurus
  • Dish washing liquid and sponge
  • Flashlight and batteries*
  • George Foreman Grill (w/ auto shut off)*
  • Small microwave*
  • Iron and portable ironing board*
  • Backpack/book bag
  • Laundry basket or laundry bag
  • Memo board (for outside of door)*
  • Personal items (soap, shampoo, toothpaste, condoms, medicines, etc)
  • Plants*
  • Posters for walls
  • Radio or small stereo
  • Refrigerator (SMALL – 4 cubic feet only)*
  • Sewing kit
  • Shower bucket (to carry soap, shampoo, etc. to and from bathroom) and shower shoes
  • Small desk lamp and extra bulbs
  • Snack food
  • TV (and coaxial extension cable)*
  • UL listed coffee pot*
  • UL listed hot pot*
  • UL listed hot air popcorn popper*
  • UL listed surge protector "power strip"
  • Shallow under-bed storage boxes
  • VCR or DVD player*


DO NOT bring:

  • Pets other than FISH! (limited to 5 gallon tanks)
  • Extension cords or multi-outlet plugs that are not surge protected
  • Extra furniture, including futons, inflatable or overstuffed furniture, foam couches, beanbag chairs, etc. - these items are prohibited due to fire safety hazards(camping type accessories are permitted)
  • Large trunks or bulky luggage (no storage space is available
  • Cooking equipment (except those noted in the previous list)
  • Firearms, explosives, or other weapons
  • Halogen lamps
  • Candles, incense or other open flame/heat sources
  • Air Conditioners
  • Space heaters
  • Mirror (already provided in room)

  • Other common sense items that are disruptive to community living (i.e. large and/or powerful sound systems, 7’ tall stuffed animals, etc)

Check with your roommate(s) to decide who will bring these items
