Officer Training

All of the Officers in the Department of Campus Safety complete training in the fields of Security, law enforcement and emergency medicine. Highlights of the training are as follows:

College & University Security Officers Training Academy:

The New Hampshire Campus Safety Academy is conducted each summer and includes over 60 hours of classroom instruction in:
- Alcohol Awareness
- Fire Safety
- Management of Aggressive Behavior
- History and Role of Campus Security/Police (classroom and practical training)
- Minority Affairs and Cultural Diversity
- Medical Emergencies First Response
- Liability Law
- Drug Identification and Effects
- Preliminary Investigations
- Interviews and Report Writing
- Domestic Violence
- Self-Esteem and Community Relations
- Sexual Assault
- Criminal Law
- Constitutional Law

In-house Training Requirements

 To keep current with changing needs, each year the Department of Campus Safety conducts in-house training for all Campus Safety Officers on such topics as:

- First Aid and CPR
- State Laws
- State Liquor Laws
- College Policies and Regulations
- Student Stress
- Patrolling Techniques
- Providing Court Testimony
