Upcoming College Graduates Network in Boston

New England College students who are just a few weeks away from graduation participated in a day of networking and career information with successful alumni working in Boston.  Initiated by Dan Lynch ’85, Senior Vice President at Natixis Global Asset Management and member of the New England College Board of Trustees, this opportunity is a great example of New England College’s commitment to using experiential learning to provide added value beyond traditional college education.  “We are at a point in our careers where we can really appreciate how critical our New England College education was to our foundation,” said Dan Lynch.  “We’re passionate about paying it forward and supporting the future alumni of NEC.”

Leading the group of students was Gene Durkee, Director of Career and Life Planning at New England College.  “Interacting in a professional environment with successful NEC graduates is a real confidence-builder and power-start to a job search,” said Gene.  “Students need to get first-hand information and possible interview scenarios from real people.  The NEC alumni professionals understand the circumstances and provided several settings to practice common networking and interview interactions.  Our students are now even more prepared to take on the world!”

“It was a great experience,” says Raymoan Clay, New England College Business major in the Class of 2014.  “Dan Lynch offered to help me with industry exams and certifications which I know I will benefit from immensely.  It was amazing that we got to meet these alums who were more than willing to help us get started in our career.” Mark Watman, Vice President for Academic Affairs at New England College also noted, “This is a perfect example of the type of community wide investment New England College places in our curriculum by having students, alumni, trustees, staff and faculty all invest in the professional goals of our students.”
