Course Overview

Networking Technologies 1 explains basic computer networking in terms that you can easily understand, using concepts common to everyday, non-computing experience. A brief introduction to networking history provides context, explaining how networks have become so important to businesses and individuals. The course emphasizes networking essentials, explaining the software and hardware that makes networking possible. The course stresses understanding how and why networks work, rather than focusing on memorization of terms or numbers.

  • For anyone who would love to gain the foundation needed to gain employment in a computer networking career.
  • For anyone studying for the CompTIA Network+ certification exam.

Prerequisites

  • A basic understanding of using operating systems, networks, and the Internet. Be able to download and install software. A willingness to learn.

Logistics

Taught online through live virtual sessions that meet two days per week, Tuesday and Thursday.
