Course Overview

Students who are beginning their studies in information technology need a strong foundation in the basics before moving on to more advanced information technology courses and certification programs. The Networking Fundamentals course is designed to provide a pathway for future success in information technology courses and careers. The Networking Fundamentals curriculum helps teach and validate basic technology concepts. Optionally, this course can be followed by the Cisco Networking 1 course, which covers topics in more depth and teaches learners how to perform basic troubleshooting steps in enterprise branch office networks while also preparing learners for the Cisco CCNA Routing and Switching Certification.

Prerequisites

Prior to taking the Networking Fundamentals course, students must possess the following basic computer literacy and Windows skills:

  • Start and run Windows
  • Use Minimize, Restore Down/Maximize, or Close
  • Use the left and right mouse buttons appropriately
  • Understand file management techniques
  • Navigate between files, folders, or drives

Logistics

Taught online through live virtual sessions that meet two days per week, Monday and Wednesday.
