The celebration of Founders Day at NEC was instituted to honor the vision and leadership of the founding faculty, staff, administration, and students of the college, and is one of three major academic events during the year.
Founders Day Speaker
Thomas R. Horgan, EdD ’14
Tom Horgan is President and CEO of the New Hampshire College and University Council (NHCUC), a statewide consortium of public and private colleges and universities. He joined the NHCUC in 1993 after serving as President of the Nebraska Independent College Foundation.
Tom has extensive leadership experience in higher education and inter-institutional collaboration. He is the immediate past chair of them National Association for Collaborative Leaders, was instrumental in the founding of Campus Compact for New Hampshire, and in the establishment of the Unique College Savings Plan. A recognized and accomplished leader on higher education issues, he was selected by Business New Hampshire Magazine as one of New Hampshire’s Leaders for the 21st Century.
Tom earned a doctorate in education from New England College in 2014. The College is excited to honor Tom at this year’s Founders Day ceremony for his numerous accomplishments and contributions, and his commitment to higher education.
