Housing Information
NEC is a residential campus with a focus on community living and learning. In order to promote community and help students develop socially and succeed academically, NEC requires all students with fewer than 45 earned academic credits to live in our residence halls. We have three residence halls set aside for first-year students: Colby, West, and Charter. These buildings house almost exclusively first-year students, so it offers students an opportunity to learn and study together, as well as build lifelong friendships. The goal of our residential life program is to provide a safe and caring environment that supports and enhances classroom learning through co-curricular programming, faculty involvement, leadership training, and academic support. The residence halls are staffed with upper-class resident advisors who help build a sense of community in each area, connect students with activities and events on campus, and assist students in making the transition from high school to college. Housing assignments are generally done in July and notification of your assignment will be sent to you in writing. Housing assignments can only be done if you have submitted a complete housing contract. If you have not received your housing contract, or have misplaced it, please contact the Office of Student and Residence Life at 603-428-2242.
We look forward to having you as a part of our residence hall community.
Health Records Information
New England College offers a variety of health services for our students. We have a full-time nurse who is trained to offer treat ment in areas ranging from the common cold, to nutrition counseling. Nurse assessments, and treatment for a minor illness or injury, are available on a walk-in basis. The Health and Wellness Center can also manage pre-existing or chronic illness through partnership with your home primary care provider. If you require regular laboratory work, testing can be done on-site and results forwarded to the attention of your home doctor for review.
The following health information is required prior to registration:
• A Physical Examination Form completed by your personal
physician.
• An Admission Health Report Form completed by the student.
• A complete Immunization Record completed by your personal
physician.
For your safety, and the health of the college community, we must have this information on file before you arrive on campus. Failure to provide this information in a timely manner will result in penalties that may include restrictions on your ability to register for classes, to live in the residence halls, or to make use of the Health and Wellness Center.
Course Registration
For the courses that you will select on your own, if you have some ideas about what you might want to major in, it is a good idea to take the introductory course for that major, i.e. Introduction to Business, Introduction to Criminal Justice, or Introduction to Psychology. The second course, or if you don't know about a major yet, both courses, can be anything that interests you.
The Course Schedule, which is available on MyNEC, will help you view what classes are available for the upcoming semester. Be sure to view the Academic Catalog to check if the courses you have selected from the Course Schedule do not require prerequisites. If a course you have selected does require a prerequisite you will have to complete those classes prior to taking that class. If you are a transfer student, your schedules are not pre-selected and we encourage you to contact the The Pathways Center for academic advising.
If you have any questions about course registration, please contact the Pathways Center. They are always available to answer any scheduling questions and can be contacted at 603-428-2218.

Student Financial Services (SFS)
Financial Aid can be one of the more intimidating tasks to complete as an incoming student. Always keep in mind that our SFS counselors are only a phone call or email away. If you would like to meet with a staff member in person, please take advantage of our Financial Aid Open Hours listed in the Admission Events Calendar, or just contact SFS by phone (603-.428.2226) or email (sfs@nec.edu) setup an appointment.
Technology at NEC
All freshman residence halls, classrooms, and the surrounding environment are part of a wireless network. That means you can be basically anywhere on campus with your laptop and get online!
In general, there are three services you can start using right away! These are your NEC Email account, your NEC Blackboard account, and your MyNEC account. Each of these services and password(s) are described in detail in your technology admissions package, which is sent in mid-April. NEC Blackboard is where you will be able to view NEC 201, your online orientation website, which includes student chat rooms, administrative forms, and general facts/tips that help you prepare for the fall semester. By familiarizing yourself with these tools, you will be ‘one step ahead of the game' when you arrive on campus this fall.
If you (or your family) have any questions not answered in the materials in NEC 201 or on the TechNEC web site, please do not hesitate to contact us. You can reach our help services by emailing helpdesk@nec.edu or by calling 603-428-2350.
