The challenges and solutions facing
those who study the natural environment transcend both geographical
and political boundaries. And the information that is required in
this endeavor encompasses a variety of areas including the sciences,
mathematics, philosophy, political science, and economics. For these
reasons, New England College's Bachelor in Environmental Studies has focused the Environmental Science
and Environmental Studies majors in ways that are global in scope and
interdisciplinary in approach.
Both majors stress collaborative study, internships, and hands-on experience while developing a working knowledge of the tools that are specific to these disciplines. Students will explore the many ways in which the natural world functions, and, by gathering information from a variety of sources, examine the human impact on our natural environment.
The degree in Environmental Studies is designed for students interested in careers relating to environmental education such as nature centers, parks, and recreational facilities, or in environmental policy or environmental law (pre-law).
