The lifeblood of any college or university is its students – past, present, and future. Thanks to the support of alumni who are grateful for their own experience, New England College thrives. Below are a few of the ways donors can support New England College.
The Opportunity Fund for NEC (formally the New England College Annual Fund)
The Opportunity Fund for NEC monies are used to continue the College’s commitment to support library resources, faculty development, athletics, student life and student financial assistance. Most importantly, contributions to the NEC Annual Fund help to continue the student-centered, nurturing environment for which New England College is renowned. Gifts to the Opportunity Fund for NEC are unrestricted, allowing the College to allocate gifts wherever the need is greatest. Every gift, no matter what size, makes a difference. Alumni, friends, and parents of current and past students, contribute to the College annually. Support from those closest to New England College is used to attract gifts from foundations, corporations, and other sources, so the impact is great. Although large gifts are vital to the success of the college’s programs, participation in any amount is equally important. Thus, a dollar for New England College is a vote of confidence for New England College.
New England College celebrates the generosity of donors who contribute $1,000 or more in unrestricted gifts each year through membership in the prestigious Founders Society. Giving at this level plays an important role in sustaining the programming that supports the academic goals of NEC students. As a member of the Founders Society, your tax-deductible contribution is recognized in the following ways:
- Special recognition in the Honor Roll of Giving
- Listing on the prominent Founders’ Society donor plaque in the Simon Center
- Exclusive Founders’ Society Member pin
- Invitations to special New England College events
Corporate Matching Gifts are a valuable source of support for New England College and a way to qualify for recognition in a higher Giving Society. Corporate matching gift programs match contributions 1:1, 2:1, or even 3:1. Many employers match gifts made by spouses too. Please contact your employer’s personnel office for instructions and mail or fax donations to New England College, Office of Advancement, 98 Bridge Street, Henniker, NH 03242, Fax: 603-428-2266.
The New England College Endowment
The College’s endowment is actually many funds established by individual donors. The funds are grouped together for investment purposes in what is called the “endowment.” The College spends only a portion of the income from the endowment each year. Typically, the donors of an endowed fund specify what the income is to be used for, such as scholarships or faculty and staff support. Since endowment income is largely restricted, the College needs a source of unrestricted funds, like the Annual Fund, to meet needs not covered by the endowment or tuition.
