New England College is pleased to announce the launch of its new MFA Post-Graduate Residency Program, an immersive summer opportunity designed for writers who have already earned an MFA in Creative Writing and wish to return to a vibrant graduate-level literary community.

Held each July as part of NEC’s on-campus summer residency, the 10-day program invites post-MFA writers from any institution to join NEC’s Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing residency experience on the College’s scenic New Hampshire campus. Participants will engage in workshops, lectures, readings, seminars, and conversations centered on the craft of writing while connecting with both emerging and established writers across genres.

“Our Post-Graduate Residency expands the literary community that defines the NEC MFA experience,” explained Dr. Jennier Militello, Program Director for NEC’s Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing. “By welcoming writers back into a creative and collaborative environment, we are fostering meaningful artistic exchange and lifelong engagement with the writing life.”

Enrollment is limited to 10 participants each year, allowing for an intimate and dynamic residency experience.

The Post-Graduate Residency includes:

  • Single-room housing
  • Full meal plan
  • Faculty feedback during peer workshops
  • Participation in lectures, seminars, and generative workshops
  • Attendance at student and faculty readings
  • Access to the Danforth Library and other campus resources

The program is open to anyone holding an MFA in Creative Writing from an accredited institution.

Applicants must submit:

  • MFA institution
  • MFA graduation date
  • Professional bio
  • Narrative statement of interest (1–3 pages)
  • Writing sample (10–20 pages)

The total program fee is $2,800.

Applications are due by May 20.
