New England College Recognized as Military Friendly® School
Ranked 8th Among U.S. Universities/Colleges in Terms of Friendliness to the Military.
New England College has earned the prestigious 8th spot on the 2017-2018 Military Friendly® School designation by MilitaryFriendly.com. The Military Friendly® brand is nationally recognized as being the original, trusted resource on post-military education and employment options for veterans and military families.
John Callahan, PhD, New England College Director of Combined Military Online Programs, said he was pleased that New England College has been recognized and ranked so highly as a military friendly school. “It’s wonderful to see our commitment, hard work, great attitude, and spirit of service to veterans being recognized. As an institution founded to serve returning World War II service men and women, New England College has a long history of commitment to assisting those who serve our nation and we are proud to play a role in their education and training.”
First published in 2009, Military Friendly® Schools is the most comprehensive, powerful resource for veterans today. Each year, the list of Military Friendly® Schools is provided to service members and their families, helping them select the best college, university, or trade school to receive the education and training needed to pursue a civilian career.
“This recognition is a result of New England College’s dedication to developing military and veteran-friendly policies and procedures.” said New England College President Michele Perkins. “Our programs prepare students for both the workplace and successful careers. Being ranked in the top ten as a Military Friendly® institution sends an important message to our country’s service members and will assist us in getting the word out to veterans and members of the military transitioning to civilian life that New England College is eager to help them achieve their academic goals.”
Institutions earning the Military Friendly® School designation were evaluated using both public data sources and responses from Victory Media’s proprietary survey. For the first time, student survey data was taken into consideration for the designation. More than 1,300 schools participated in the 2017-2018 survey with 849 receiving the designation.
Ratings methodology, criteria, and weightings were determined by Victory Media with input from the Military Friendly® Advisory Council of independent leaders in the higher education and military recruitment community. Final ratings were determined by combining the institution’s survey scores with the assessment of the institution’s ability to meet thresholds for student retention, graduation, job placement, loan repayment, persistence (degree advancement or transfer), and loan default rates for all students and specifically for student veterans.
New England College will be showcased along with other 2018 Military Friendly® Schools in the annual Guide to Military Friendly® Schools, special education issues of G.I. Jobs, Military Spouse Magazine, and at www.militaryfriendly.com.
