Travis Manick has been appointed as the new Director of Men’s and Women’s Wrestling as announced by New England College Director of Athletics Dave DeCew on Wednesday afternoon.

Travis, who graduated from NEC with a master’s degree in healthcare administration in 2024, makes his way back to Henniker by way of Rhode Island College where he had been the Assistant Wrestling Coach for the past year. Manick now returns to lead the New England College men’s and women’s Wrestling teams after having previously spent two years as a Graduate Assistant Wrestling Coach here in Henniker from 2022–2024. In his time at NEC, Manick assisted in coaching the men’s team to a winning record in 2023–2024 and assisted in coaching the inaugural season for the women’s wrestling program.

“We are thrilled to bring Travis on board as our Director of the Men’s and Women’s Wrestling Programs,” said DeCew. “His love for NEC and his desire to enhance the student-athlete experience through a holistic approach stood out during the search process. He will undoubtably build on the good foundation that is in place, continue to develop the student-athletes here, and be a relentless recruiter. Travis will bring passion and dedication to help lead us forward.”

Prior to the start of his coaching career, Travis graduated from Rhode Island College in 2022 with a degree in Biology after a four-year wrestling career with the Anchormen where he was a Scholar All-American and team captain. In high school, the Methuen, Massachusetts, native was a four-time state finalist and two-time state champion under the late coaching legend Bill James.

“I am excited to come back to New England College to take on the role of Director of Men’s and Women’s wrestling, and eager to serve as the Head Coach for each of these programs to help deliver a positive college experience that will see studentathletes achieve their academic, athletic, and personal goals,” said Manick. “I am passionate about New England College, and as an alumnus, I cannot wait to become a member of the campus community again. Here at New England College wrestling, we will “Row the Boat” by applying unwavering positive energy on the journey to achieve our individual goals in pursuit of our team goals…together! I look forward to establishing a culture that values strong goal setting, academic excellence, personal growth, and athletic achievement which will build champions in life for years to come.”

Manick’s first day back on campus will be Monday, June 2.
