New England College Delivers Holiday Joy to Children at CHaD
Generous NEC community helps bring holiday joy to children at Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth.
On Friday, December 5, New England College (NEC) hosted its third annual Christmas Toy Drive benefitting patients at Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth (CHaD). The toy drive was led by NEC’s Criminal Justice Club in partnership with CHaD and the Concord Police Department. The event was a tremendous success, thanks to the generosity and holiday spirit of the NEC community.
This year’s toy drive brought in an impressive collection of new toys, cash, and check donations valued at $3,000 for children who cannot be home with their families on Christmas Day. Held in the Simon Center, at the heart of NEC’s campus, the drive welcomed donations from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. and featured a photo opportunity with Santa from 2:30 to 5:00 p.m.
Organizers and volunteers were delighted to watch the pile of toys grow by the hour. One large donation load was delivered to CHaD on December 5, and another was delivered December 8.

“We could not have achieved this success without the dedication and teamwork from so many individuals and departments,” stated Frank Jones, Associate Professor of the Practice, Criminal Justice; Advisor to the Criminal Justice Club; and former law enforcement officer. “NEC is a wonderfully generous and caring community, and the kids at CHaD will be happy on December 25th!”
NEC extends a special “thank you” to Brad Osgood, Chief of Police with the Concord Police Department and adjunct faculty in the College’s Criminal Justice program. A special highlight of the day was the visit from a CHaD representative, who made her first trip to the NEC campus, and the attendance of comfort dogs, Liberty and Bailey.
This year’s event builds on the tradition of giving established at NEC’s previous toy drives, continuing the mission to support local children and spread holiday cheer around the state.
