New England College (NEC) is proud to announce that President Wayne F. Lesperance, Jr. has been appointed to serve on both the New Hampshire Higher Education Commission and the New Hampshire State Workforce Innovation Board, two influential statewide bodies focused on advancing educational opportunity, workforce development, and economic growth across the Granite State.

The New Hampshire Higher Education Commission works to oversee and support higher education in the state, while the State Workforce Innovation Board advises on workforce strategy and alignment among education, training, and industry needs.

“These appointments reflect New England College’s longstanding commitment to transformative education, critical thinking, civic engagement, and career development while strengthening New Hampshire’s workforce,” said Dr. Lesperance. “I am honored to contribute to these important statewide efforts and to collaborate with leaders across education, government, and industry to expand opportunities for students and employers alike.”

Dr. Lesperance became the 16th president of New England College in 2022 after serving in a variety of academic and administrative leadership roles at the College since joining the faculty in 1999. He has been widely recognized for his leadership in higher education and civic engagement throughout New Hampshire.

As president of New England College, Dr. Lesperance has emphasized innovation in academic programming and experiential learning opportunities that connect education directly to career preparation and community impact. The College’s Community Mental Health and three-year BSN programs follow NEC’s Earn While You Learn academic model, allowing students to earn income and partner with organizations across New Hampshire while completing their degrees. Under Dr. Lesperance’s leadership, NEC has continued to strengthen its focus on career development, civic engagement, and preparing graduates to contribute meaningfully to their communities and professions.

Dr. Lesperance’s appointments to the New Hampshire Higher Education Commission and the New Hampshire State Workforce Innovation Board further strengthen New England College’s role in advancing educational opportunity, workforce development, and civic partnership across New Hampshire.
