BS in Biochemistry Program Overview
Biochemistry is the study of the chemical processes that make life possible—from the way DNA stores information and enzymes catalyze reactions to how cells communicate and energy is managed in living systems. NEC’s BS in Biochemistry equips you with a rigorous foundation in both biology and chemistry, blending theory with hands-on laboratory experience and research. Through courses in chemistry, biology, physics, and math, you’ll learn how to investigate real scientific questions and contribute to discoveries that impact health, the environment, and industry.
This BS in Biochemistry prepares you for careers in scientific research, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, and related fields, as well as for advanced studies in medicine, graduate school, or professional programs. Whether you aspire to work in a research lab, pursue graduate degrees, or enter applied science fields, this interdisciplinary major gives you the skills to understand life at the molecular level and tackle complex scientific challenges.
Over the last 15 years, the college has received $4 million in NH-INBRE and NH-LIFT grants to support faculty and student research in the natural and social sciences.
