NEC Remembers Robert A. Kilgore
Robert A. Kilgore, 79, died Tuesday, April 22, 2008. Bob had been associated with New England College for more than thirty years; nearly half the life of the College. His tenure on the Board of Trustees began over twenty-five years ago, he served as Chairman of the Board from 1977 to 1985 and held numerous positions on Board committees. He has given generously to support the faculty of New England College and to encourage their professional development. The annual award given to a member of the College’s faculty was named for him. He also established a student scholarship. In 1987 he received the William C. Troy Award from the Alumni Association and in 2006 was awarded the honorary Doctor of Humane Letters by the Board of Trustees.
Bob was the founder and chairman of the Kilgore Company, a commercial design-build firm. He graduated from Wentworth Institute and Franklin Institute in Boston with a degree in civil engineering.
An avid golfer and skier, Bob served as an alpine race official at the 1980 Olympics at Lake Placid, New York, and was elected to the Pennsylvania Ski Hall of Fame in 2008. He served on numerous boards and committees and was a member of a number of historic/fraternal organizations.
