A. Collegium Requirements

  • VER 1000 - History of Political Thought
  • VER 4000 - Research Methods

B. Political Science Core Courses

·          Students are required to take 15 credits from the following options:

·                    PO 1010 - Introduction to Political Science

·                    PO 1110 (GHR 1110)- U.S. Politics 

·                    PO 1510 (GHR/GCD 1510) - International Politics

·                    PO 2420 (GHR/GCD 2410) - World Geography

·                    PO 4010 - Community Service (1-3 credits)

·                    PO 4910 - Internship (1 – 3 credits)

C. Capstone

American Politics Concentration

Students must complete 24 credits

  • HS 1130 - Survey of American History to 1877
    or HS 1140 - Survey of American History Since 1877

E. Second Language Requirement

Each student is required to take two semesters of a second language; however, requirements may be waived by equivalency exam. English may be used as a second language by students whose native language is not English.

F. Distribution Courses and Electives Requirements to Minor in Political Science

Students must take three more PO courses (9 credits) in addition to the following requirements:

·         PO 1010 - Introduction to Political Science

·         PO 1110 - U.S. Politics

·         PO 1510 - International Politics
