1. Families send documentation of a learning need to the Learning Services Office. This may include a WAIS psycho-educational test (with subtest scores), a Woodcock-Johnson Achievement test, any reading tests that are available, or other appropriate forms of evaluation. For non-LD types of disabilities, the student needs to contact the Learning Services Coordinator to determine what kind of documentation is needed. This includes requests for specific housing needs and access to rooms and buildings. Requests for residential accommodations should be made as soon as the student has paid his or her deposit.
2. The student will meet with the Learning Services Coordinator to do a Needs Assessment and will be given multiple copies of the Needs Assessment Form to share with faculty and staff.
3. In order to receive an academic accommodation the student must give his or her professors and the Coordinator of Tutoring copies of the Needs Assessment Form. A discussion will then take place regarding the recommended accommodations.
4. The professor will call the Learning Services Coordinator if there is a need for clarification or for discussion about any concerns that the professor has.
5. The Learning Services Coordinator is available to assist students in receiving appropriate accommodations. Should a student, faculty, or staff member have questions about the required accommodations they should contact the Learning Services Coordinator who will bring together all parties to discuss alternatives.
