Major: Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing
Why did you choose the Business program at NEC? I chose the business program at New England College because in high school, I had a passion for marketing. I was recognized for Marketing Student of the Year when I graduated from Manchester High School West in 2007. I also won 2nd place for the Entrepreneurship-Participating Franchise at the New Hampshire DECA Career Development Conference. Then I went on to the International DECA Career Development Conference in Orlando, Florida. There I won honors for the Business Plan I developed for an Entrepreneurship Participating Franchise. After that, I decided that I had a passion for marketing and I wanted to pursue my passion for marketing.
What are your extracurricular interests? My extracurricular interests include skiing, ice skating, tennis, kayaking, boating, tubing, hiking and swimming.
Why did you choose NEC? I chose New England College because they offered the major that I wanted to pursue which is Business Administration with a Concentration in Marketing. At New England College, the classes are small with only about 20 students in each class. I like that because I get to know my professors. Also, at New England College the student to faculty ratio is 14 to 1.
What do you like best about NEC? I like the idea that NEC is a small college. With its size it is easier to get to know a lot of people to have study groups and work on projects together. New England College hosts various activities and interest clubs and organizations and I find it easier to get involved on campus due to the smaller size. Also, NEC offers a sweet deal that is a free ski pass at Pats Peak. All you have to do is show your ID and you’re on the slopes.
What do you do for fun on the weekends? I usually go to Pats Peak and ski with friends and family during the winter and go to the NEC Men’s Hockey games or go ice skating in the Ice Arena when it’s open for free skate. During the fall, I go to different athletic events. During the spring, I usually go hiking, kayaking and boating.
What is your favorite class and why? My favorite class here at NEC was Internet Marketing with Professor Cindi Nadelman. It was fun to start up an online campus business called Pilgrim Used Books. I learned a lot of techniques in reaching the specific target market through the Internet.
What has been your favorite memory at NEC? My favorite memory was when I woke up on a December day to find that classes at NEC were cancelled. My roommate and I packed up and went skiing at the Peak. We got about a foot of snow that day and conditions were sic.
How was your transition from high school to NEC? I didn’t enter New England College directly from high school, I transferred to New England College from another college.
What do you like most about Henniker? What I like most about Henniker is that it’s a quintessential New England town. There are small convenient businesses located on Main Street where I can purchase all the essentials. New England College is set in the heart of Henniker, the landscape during all the four seasons is picturesque. There are a lot of outdoor events that can be enjoyed throughout the whole year.
What are your plans after graduation? My plans after graduation are getting a marketing job either in the fashion industry or at a Ski Resort. If the economy is not improving by then, I will go on to receive my Masters in Business Administration/Marketing.
