NEC Veteran Programs

New England College is proud to partner with the Veterans Administration (VA) providing numerous benefit programs that allow former and current military service members the ability to fulfill their educational goals.  Students who are eligible to receive military education benefits as defined by the VA should contact the NEC veteran admission representative (Valerie Salyer 603.428.2412 or vsalyer@nec.edu) at the time of application.

Please visit the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs site for information about applying for education benefits and eligibility. Applications for veteran benefits may be obtained directly from the VA by visiting the VONAPP (Veterans Online Applications) website. If you prefer, completed application forms can be mailed directly to the VA Regional Processing Office (P.O. Box 4616, Buffalo, NY 14240-4616).

NEC is also proud to offer the The Russell Durgin Military Service Scholarship Program named after a lifelong resident of Henniker who was killed in action in Afghanistan in 2006. The purpose of the scholarship is to bridge the gap between the costs of undergraduate tuition at NEC and the benefits available through the G.I. Bill. There is no need to apply separately for this scholarship, as the amount will be determined based on the student’s benefit eligibility and financial need.

Please follow these steps to apply your benefits to New England College:

1.  Contact the VA at http://www.gibill.va.gov/ or 1-888-GIBILL-1 (1-888-442-4551).

All of these forms are available on the VONAPP site mentioned above.

Student Story
Adam Hennick
Adam Hennick, a Montréal, Quebec, Canada native, first visited New England College (NEC) about five years ago when his older brother was considering enrollment. Adam’s older brother did not ultimately enroll at NEC; however, Adam left campus that day with a couple of tangible souvenirs, a Men’s Ice Hockey t-shirt and a puck, as well as a valuable intangible memento – a favorable and lasting impression of NEC.
