The Learning Services Office is committed to providing equal access to all programs and activities so that New England College students can become independent and successful learners.
The Learning Services Office works in partnership with NEC students, faculty, and staff to find ways to overcome barriers that may be keeping students from full participation in the social and academic life of the College. The Goals of the Learning Services Office are to:
• Help students develop the skills and strategies they will need to advocate for themselves in the years ahead
• Help students to learn to thing strategically about how to use their strengths to compensate for their challenges
• Provide timely and equitable accommodations and services
• Promote awareness of services, accommodations, and disability laws to students, families, and the NEC community
• Keep current regarding trends and issues related to disabilities
• Teach students to use the NEC resources available to them, and how to interact with outside agencies as needed
• Assist students in learning to use adaptive technology, computer software such as MyNEC, Blackboard, and the other technical resources of the College
• Provide development and information to NEC faculty and Staff
• Endeavor to find a balance between protecting student’s privacy while maintaining necessary interaction and support
• Assume that the College is compliant with all federal and state regulations pertaining to persons with disabilities
We have set these goals with the hope that students will learn to meet and exceed all the objectives and policies of the College. WE cannot guarantee that all students will be successful, but we can reach out to students who are ready to pursue academic success. Hopefully, once the barriers are removed, the student’s innate abilities will allow them to compete on an equal footing with their classmates. It is our most basic belief that every student can develop and grow if they are willing to participate as equal partners in the discovery process.________________________________________________

The Office of Residence Life is committed to making the out of class experience at New England College the best experience for each student. We are a small residential campus, and our primary focus is providing a living/learning environment that directly supports the educational, social, and personal development of each student. There are numerous ways in which students are encouraged to get involved on a personal level on the campus. This can occur through leadership opportunities in any of our 50 Student organizations, student employment opportunities available in our office, and through participation in any of our activities and events. In addition, special programs, major events and programming, community service and leadership opportunities are all excellent ways to become actively engaged in the NEC experience.
The Office of Residence Life maintains a bulletin Board listing off campus housing opportunities for those veterans who will not be residing in the residence halls.________________________________________________
Course Registration
Location: Simon Center Fourth Level, Administration Building First Floor
Contacts: Lucy Cook, Susan Harding, Frank Hall: US Army
Registration for courses takes place usually shortly after a veteran has deposited. Most veterans will have transfer credit awarded based on their MOS and courses undertaken while in the Service. NEC is a Servicemembers opportunity college and follows all the recommendations for credit earned during enlistment. Credit earned at other institutions will also transfer in. As such most veterans should meet with the Pathways staff (Susan Harding and Lucy Cook) to create their first schedule. Pathways will also assign your academic advisor depending on your major. Questions concerning transfer credit should be directed to Frank Hall.
