Over 50% of New England College students participate in some kind of physical exercise, whether on one of our 17 varsity sports, a variety of diverse club sports, or outdoor recreation abundantly available in our four-season New England setting.

Club & Recreational Sports

Club sports at NEC represent current interests of students and are predominantly student driven, providing leadership opportunities in organization, management, and coaching.

Men’s Rugby

New England College Rugby is a collegiate program that competes in the National Small College Rugby Organization (NSCRO). In the fall NEC plays a full conference 15′s schedule in the New England Rugby Football Union (NERFU) and a full 7′s schedule in the spring. Players of various skill level and experience are all welcome.

Men’s Junior Varsity Ice Hockey

New England College JV Ice Hockey competes throughout the months of October-February. All games are played at the New England College Lee Clement Arena.

Ultimate Frisbee

New England College Ultimate Frisbee is one of the largest and most active organizations on campus with close to 80 members. There are two options for players, intramural and competitive. The intramural league plays semester-long seasons on campus. It’s a great opportunity to have fun, make friends, and get active. The club also has a team that competes with other colleges from the Northeast and is part of the Ultimate Players Association (UPA).

Dance

New England College Dance meets regularly year round and periodically performs at NEC’s “Midnight Madness” and other athletic events.

Lacrosse

New England College Lacrosse competes in the spring with other Northeast schools. Members are expected to supply their own protective equipment.

Men’s Ice Hockey

New England College Ice Hockey competes in the winter with other Northeast schools. Members are expected to supply their own protective equipment.

Men’s and Women’s Soccer

New England College Soccer is an indoor soccer league that convenes in the spring.

Recreational Sports

Coeducational recreational sports are an integral part of New England College student development and have included flag football, basketball, volleyball, and softball. All members of the College community – including students, faculty, staff and administration – are welcome and encouraged to participate.

Tennis, badminton, mountain bike races, 5K road races, and alpine ski and snowboard races have been offered as both coed and single-sex activities.

New England College is fortunate to be minutes away from a well groomed mountain, perfect for skiing and snowboarding as well as surrounding alpine sports. As an extra benefit to students, faculty and staff, NEC provides complimentary access to Pats Peak Ski Area, free of charge!
