Baseball picks up conference win
New England College baseball picked up their first conference victory splitting a double-header with Anna Maria College Wednesday afternoon in Paxton. With the spilt the Pilgrims move to 5-11 overall and 1-5 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference.
The Pilgrims would score in five of the seven innings in game one holding on late to capture the 11-8 game one win. The Pilgrims would use a four run second inning to build an early 5-0 lead. Anna Maria would battle back scoring three runs in the third but NEC would score two runs in the fifth and tack on three in the sixth to hold on for the 11-8 win.
Leading the way for NEC P.J. Crowley who finished the game 3-for-4 with three runs batted in and a run scored. NEC’s Dan Pratt finished with two hits and five runs batted in, while Joe Clark singled twice and drove in two runs. Picking up the win on the mound for NEC was Dan Pratt who allowed six runs in six innings of work.
The Pilgrims would grab the lead early in game two but Anna Maria would score five runs in the third inning and three in the bottom of the sixth to capture the 10-8 win over NEC.
The Pilgrims would belt out 15 hits including Jimmy Hoyt who singled three times and scored two runs. NEC’s P.J. Crowley, Jordan Morgan and Scott Miller each collect two hits in game two. On the mound for the Pilgrims was Adam Climo who allowed six earned runs on 12 hits.
