Doolin leads Roger Williams past Pilgrims

Roger Williams University’s Jaclyn Doolin (Miller Place, N.Y.) pitched two complete games and picked up two wins on the mound leading the Hawks past the New England College Pilgrims 6-0 in game one and 4-1 in game two. With the two wins the Hawks improve to 16-12 on the season and 8-6 in TCCC play. The losses drop the Pilgrims to 7-13 overall and 1-7 in conference play.


 

In game one the Hawks would jump out to an early 3-0 lead in the first as Hannah Pirez (Bolton, Mass.) would hit a three-run homerun.  Roger Williams would plate a single run in the third and tack on two more insurance runs in the seventh eventually cruising to the 6-0 victory.

 

Leading the way for Roger Williams was Pirez who finished with two hits and two runs scored to go along with her three runs batted in.  Roger Williams’ Christine Bean (Southampton, Mass.) singled twice and Sarah Grill (Watervliet, N.Y.) scored twice for the Hawks.  On the mound Doolin pitched the complete game shutout, allowing three hits and striking out 10.

 

Leading the way for NEC was Sierra Thibeault (Brunswick, Maine) who doubled for the Pilgrims.

 

In game two the Hawks would score two runs in the first as Pirez would hit her second homerun of the afternoon putting Roger Williams up 2-0.  The Hawks would add a run in the second but the Pilgrims would get the run back in the home half of the fourth as Thibeault would drive in Alexandria Sacco (Tewksbury, Mass.) Roger Williams would plate another run in the sixth and hold the Pilgrims scoreless in their final two at bats holding on for the 4-1 win.

 

Leading the way for Roger Williams in game two was Pirez who was 3-for-3 with a run scored and a run batted in.  Roger Williams’ Sarah Grill and Christine Bean each finished with two hits and a run scored for the Hawks.  Picking up the win on the mound again was Doolin who pitched the complete game allowing one run on five hits. 

 

Leading the way for NEC was Stephanie Freitag (Lakeville, Mass.) who singled and doubled for the Pilgrims.  NEC’s Alexandria Sacco tripled and Deanna Brayton (Queensbury, N.Y.) singled for the Pilgrims.
