New England College’s Jodie Dresser (Keene, N.H.) would score her team-high thirteenth goal of the season with just over six minutes remaining in regulation to lift the Pilgrims past the Salve Regina Seahawks 2-1 Monday afternoon in Newport. The win is the fourth straight for the Pilgrims who improve to 10-4 overall and 4-1 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) play. The loss drops the Seahawks to 3-9 overall and 1-4 in the TCCC.

The two teams would battle evenly throughout the opening half as the Pilgrims would hold just a 11-10 advantage in shots over the Seahawks.  NEC’s Kate Carnaroli (Bellingham, Mass.) would break the scoreless tie rebound in her own shot at the 24:12 mark to put the Pilgrims up 1-0.

Salve Regina would get on the board early in the second half as Toni Pucillo (N. Easton, Mass.) would tie the game chipping in a pass from Samantha Wolfe (E. Bridgewater, Mass.) at the 48:13 mark.  NEC’s Dresser would rip a shot by the Salve Regina defense off a nice feed from Holly Soule (Littleton, N.H.) at the 63:34 mark. Dresser’s thirteenth goal of the season would prove to be the game-winner as the Pilgrims would edge the Seahawks 2-1.

Picking up the win in net for the Pilgrims was Mary Roux (Auburn, Mass.) who finished with eight saves on the afternoon.
