Endicott College’s Samantha Bourgeois (Gardner, Mass.) scored a goal and picked up an assist to lead the visiting Gulls past the New England College Pilgrims 3-0 Saturday afternoon in Henniker. With the win the Gulls remain undefeated in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) play with a record of 2-0 and improve to 10-2 overall. The loss evens the Pilgrims to 1-1 in TCCC action and drops them to 6-4 on the season.

The two teams would battle through a scoreless opening 31 minutes of play before Endicott’s Anna Giannoni (Granby, Conn.) would convert on a penalty stroke putting the Gulls up 1-0.  The Pilgrims would have several opportunities throughout the opening half but the Gulls’ keeper Chelsea DeFeo (York, Maine) would come up with five first half saves keeping the Pilgrims off the board.

The Gulls would give themselves some breathing room early in the second half as Bourgeois would score her fourth goal of the season unassisted just 8:28 into the half.  Endicott would strike again just six minutes later as Joanne Reid (Clarksville, Md.) would score her eighth goal of the season assist by Bourgeois extended the Gull lead to 3-0.  NEC would hold the edge in shots in the second half out shooting Endicott 7-4 but again the Gull defense would prove tough keeping the Pilgrims off the board.

Picking up the shutout win in net for Endicott was DeFeo who finished with 10 saves.  In net for NEC was Mary Roux (Auburn, Mass.) who finished with seven saves on the afternoon.

NEC returns to action on Tuesday, Oct. 7 when they host conference opponent University of New England at 3:30 p.m.  Endicott College will host conference opponent Salve Regina University Tuesday, Oct. 7 at 4:00 p.m.
