Men's Lacrosse has impressive showing at ECAC Championship
New England men’s lacrosse battled their way past Wheaton College in Saturday’s ECAC New England Semifinal and advanced to their first-ever ECAC New England Championship game on Sunday where they fell to #15 Endicott College.
In Saturday’s semifinal win over Wheaton College the Pilgrims exploded for four goals in the third quarter and held the Lyons to three second half goals pulling off the 10-7 victory.
Leading the way for NEC was Matt Vozzolo (Somers, Conn.) who netted four goals and had an assist. NEC’s Jon Gabriel (West Nyak, Mass.) scored two goals and Clint McDonough (Mountain Lakes, N.J.) and Matt Goyette (Lowell, Mass.) each had a goal and dished out an assist. Picking up the win in net for the Pilgrims was Nick Acquaviva (Syracuse, N.Y.) who finished the evening with 12 saves.
In Sunday’s championship game the #15 ranked Endicott College Gulls opened the game on a 10-0 run and held the Pilgrims to just four goals over 60 minutes to capture the 22-4 win.
Scoring for the Pilgrims was John Gabriel who had two goals, Matt Goyette and Matt Carey. Splitting time in net was Nick Acquaviva who finished with eight saves and Matt Paolett (Woburn, Mass.) who recorded four saves.
