Pilgrims Fall to Leopards in Final Game
New England College women’s basketball would allow 43 first half points as the Wentworth Institute of Technology Leopards would beat the Pilgrims 85-44 Saturday in Boston. The loss closes out NEC’s season as the Pilgrims finish with an overall record of 8-17 and a conference record of 4-9.
Wentworth would score the first bucket of the game grabbing an early lead that the Leopards would never give up. The Pilgrims would try to battle their way back in it but the Leopards would shoot an impressive 50% from beyond three-point range to jumping out to a 43-20 halftime lead.
It would continue to be all Leopards in the second half of play as Wentworth would lead by as many as 45 points. Wentworth would hold NEC to shooting just 30% on the afternoon from the floor as the Pilgrims would muster just 24 second half points falling to the Leopards 85-44.
Leading the way for NEC was Ashley Hutton (Lebanon, N.H.) who finished with 10 points. NEC’s LaShawnda Wilson (Burlington, Vt.) finished with nine points and Katie Griffin (Lawrence, Mass.) chipped in five points and grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds.
