Roux named September Athlete of the Month
New England College field hockey keeper Mary Roux (Auburn, Mass.) has been named New England College’s September Athlete of the Month.
Roux has worked to lead the Pilgrims to an impressive 6-3 overall record and a 1-0 Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) record throughout the month of September.
Roux has started all nine games in net for the Pilgrims and has allowed just nine goals and picked up 61 saves.
Roux is ranked first in the TCCC in save percentage with a .871 save percentage in 593 minutes of work. Roux is currently second in the TCCC in shutouts with two this season and is also ranked second in the TCCC in goals against average allowing just 1.06 goals per game.
Roux was named TCCC Defensive Player of the Week for her performance throughout the second week of the season. For the week Roux finished with three wins in net, including two shutout victories. Roux did not allow a goal in 201 minutes in net and totaled 18 saves. In NEC’s 2-0 win over Manhattanville College Roux picked up the shutout win finishing with 10 saves including seven huge second half stops.
