The New England College Pilgrims recorded their first tie of the season in a 3-3 overtime battle with the Purple Knights of Saint Michael’s College. With the tie the Pilgrims move to 7-6-1 overall and 5-4-1 in the ECAC East, while the Purple Knights also pick up their first tie and better their record to 3-11-1 overall and 1-9-1 in the ECAC East.


 

NEC would strike first as Pilgrims’ senior Sarah Graham (Brampton, Ontario) would score 13 minutes into the game off an assist by junior Stefanie Lewis (Windsor, Nova Scotia.)  With the goal Graham became the fourth player in NEC women’s hockey history to score 100 career points.  The Purple Knights would strike back two minutes later Alexis Regan (Canton, Mass.) registered an unassisted goal.

 

NEC would take the lead back two minutes into the second period as first-year player Samantha Phillips (Scotsdale, Ariz.) would record an unassisted goal.  The Pilgrims would extend their lead to 3-1 later in the period off of another goal by Graham.  Lewis and senior Sarah Tracey (Aurora, Ontario) assisted on the goal.  The Purple Knights would begin to crawl back with 48 seconds left in the second period off of a goal by Meghan Sweezey (Lynnfield, Mass.)

 

Saint Michael’s Emily Paquin (Bowie, Md.) would net the lone goal of the third period off of an assist from Desiree Biron (Bow, N.H.) to tie the game at 3-3.  The two teams would remain scoreless through the remaining 16 minutes of regulation and overtime. 

 

Leading the way for NEC was Graham who finished with two goals Lewis who recorded two assists.  Leading the way for Saint Michael’s was Paquin who finished with a goal and an assist. 

 

In net for the Pilgrims was Teraysa White (Belgrade, Maine) who finished with 38 saves.  In net for the Purple Knights was Alysia Goldman (Bollston Lake, N.Y.) who finished with an impressive 42 saves.
