Four different Pilgrims scored lifting New England College to a 4-0 shutout win over the MIT Engineers Friday evening in Henniker. The win is the third straight for the Pilgrims who improve to 7-6-0 overall, while the loss drops the Engineers to 2-8-1 on the season.


 

The two teams would battle through the majority of the first period scoreless before NEC’s Emily Tanguay (Manchester, N.H.) would convert on a power-play opportunity assisted by Courtney Kerslake (Sarnia, Ontario) and Chelsea Torrico (Mt. Washington, Mass.) at the 14:09 mark.

 

NEC would extend their lead to 2-0 early in the second period as Kaleigh Costello (Hudson, N.H.) would net her third goal of the season just 3:29 into the period.  The Pilgrims would tack on another score late in the second period as Torrico would score a power-play goal assisted by Taryn Moffat (Montrose, B.C.) and Kerslake with just 1:34 remaining on the clock.

 

NEC’s Sarah Graham (Brampton, Ontario) would net the lone goal of the third period, scoring her sixth goal of the season as the Pilgrims would cruise to the 4-0 victory.

 

Leading the way for NEC was Torrico who finished with a goal and dished out an assist.  Leading the way for MIT was Stephanie Brenman (Newton, Mass.) who recorded three shots on net for the Engineers.

 

Picking up the shutout win in net for the Pilgrims was Teraysa White (Belgrade, Maine) who finished with 11 saves.  In net for MIT was Rachel Bowens-Rubin (Loretto, Minn.) who finished with an impressive 43 saves.
