Women's Ice Hockey opens season on the road
New England College women’s ice hockey opens up their 2008-09 season on the road this weekend battling two non-conference opponents.
On Saturday at 7:00 p.m. the Pilgrims will face off against the #2 ranked Elmira College Soaring Eagles. The Pilgrims are still searching for the program’s first-ever win over the Soaring Eagles who have beating NEC four times over the last five seasons. The teams’ last meeting was back on January 7, 2007 when Elmira beat NEC 5-2. On Sunday afternoon the Pilgrims will battle the Utica College Pioneers at 3:30 p.m. The Pilgrims are 1-4 all-time versus the Pioneers with their only win coming back in 2005-06. Last season NEC hosted Utica College in their opening game of the season falling to the Pioneers 1-8.
