The Colby-Sawyer and New England College women’s soccer teams played to a 0-0 tie after regulation and two overtime sessions, on Saturday afternoon. The Chargers go to 4-1-2 overall and 1-0-1 in the TCCC. The Pilgrims are now 2-3-2 overall and hold a 0-1-1 in conference action.

The best chance of the first half came in the 25th minute when Colby-Sawyer was awarded a corner kick. Freshman Katie Carreiro (Cumberland, R.I.) sent the ball towards the box and teammate Liz Allen (Holden, Mass.) fired a shot on net, but it sailed high and hit off the crossbar. The ricochet came back to freshman Sarah Lavalle (Newton, Mass.) who made a solid strike with her head, but that too sailed high and over the net.

New England College had a decent chance to score in the second overtime when freshman Tamra Comerford (Fremont, N.H.) ripped  a shot from the right flank, but could not get it past the keeper.

The Chargers held a large advantage in shots 17-6, but were unable to get one by Pilgrims keeper Kerry Hughes (Wallkill, N.Y.). She finished with nine saves. Colby-Sawyer goalie, Allie Piper (Barre, Vt.) has yet to relinquish a goal in four games and finished with four saves.

Colby-Sawyer will be at Western New England on Wednesday for a 4:00 pm kickoff. The Pilgrims will travel to Anna Maria on Wednesday for a 4:00 pm start.
