New England College women’s soccer struggled to find the net Saturday as they were shutout by the Roger Williams University Hawks 3-0 in Bristol. With the loss the Pilgrims fall to 7-9-1 overall and 5-6-1 in conference play. With the win the Hawks improve to 14-2 overall and 12-1 in conference action.

Roger Williams would strike early as Kelly Capek would put in a one-timer from Laurin Pendleton just 4:34 into the opening half.  The Hawks would extend their lead to 2-0 in the 24th minute as Amanda daCunha would score off a corner.  Roger Williams would net another goal just before halftime as Julie Hamor would score an unassisted goal putting the Hawks up 3-0 heading into halftime.

The two teams would battle through a scoreless second half of play.  The Pilgrims would muster eight shots in the second half of play but the Hawks defense would keep NEC off the board, cruising to the 3-0 win.

Leading the way for NEC was Debbie Lyons (Wilmington, Mass.) who finished with three shots on net.  In goal for NEC was Kerry Hughes (Wallkill, N.Y.) who finished the afternoon with 13 saves.
