Hall of Fame
In October of 1992, the New England College Athletic Hall of Fame was inaugurated during ceremonies in Gilmore Dining Hall.
The
Hall of Fame was the brainchild of George R. Hamilton, who joined NEC’s faculty
in 1964 and created the physical education curriculum. In the years that
followed, Hamilton became a professor of physical education, served 21 years as
director of physical education, served 12 years as athletic director, and
coached, at various times, basketball, baseball, cross country, golf, soccer and
tennis.
Criteria For
Selection:
1. Purpose is to recognize those outstanding individuals
of teams that have contributed to the ongoing success of the New England College
Athletic Program.
2. Those eligible are alumni/ae, coaches, administrators,
friends and contributors.
3. Alumni/ae must be graduates and out of school
for at least five years.
4. Alumni/ae must have participated for a minimum of
two years in one varsity sport.
5. Normally, a maximum of five candidates to
be inducted per year.
6. Nominations may be made by anyone connected with New
England College. (Please submit names and rationale for nomination to the Hall
of Fame Committee Chair.)
