Women's Ice Hockey Coaching Staff

Jackie MacMillan enters her second season as head coach for the Pilgrims.  Last season MacMillan led the Pilgrims to a record of 15-11-1 overall tying the Pilgrim single-season win record and an ECAC East record of 10-8-1.  This past season NEC made their sixth straight appearance in the ECAC East Playoffs and earned a spot in the ECAC East Championship game for just the second time in program history.

 

MacMillan is originally from Buffalo, Minn. and brings a wealth of coaching and playing experience to NEC.

 

Prior to NEC MacMillan was the assistant coach at Division I Union College. Her coaching experience also includes serving as an assistant coach at Division III St. Olaf College and as an assistant coach for Shattuck-St. Mary’s Prep.  MacMillan has also been an instructor for numerous camps and hockey schools including, USA 18-Under Development Camp and NCWHL Hockey Clinic.

 

MacMillan was the starting goalie for the University of Wisconsin Badgers and led them to 75 wins over four seasons.  While at Wisconsin MacMillan led the nation in goals against average in 2002 and picked up numerous honors from both the WHCA and USCHO.   She received her Bachelors of Arts from Wisconsin in 2003.

 

 

Paul Vasquez, Assistant Coach

 

Paul Vasquez is entering his second season as assistant women’s ice hockey coach here at NEC. Vazquez is originally from Buffalo, N.Y. where he played two seasons at Division I Canisius College.

 

Vazquez’s coaching experience includes two seasons at Canisius High School in Buffalo and also as a goaltender coach for Henniker Youth Hockey.  In addition to assisting the women’s hockey program he will serve as the head JV Hockey Coach and is in his fourth season as the Men’s Soccer Assistant.

 

Coach Vazquez will specialize in training on the individual level, assist with practice plans and implementation, and take over some recruiting responsibilities.

 

 

Bill Corbo, Jr., Assistant Coach

 

Bill Corbo, Jr. will enter his first season as the women’s ice hockey goaltending coach. Bill will work closely with both the men’s and women’s ice hockey goalies this season.

 

Corbo was the goaltending coach for both the men’s and women’s ice hockey programs at Plattsburgh State from 2002-2006.  While there he helped to lead both Cardinal programs to an NCAA DIII Final Four appearance in 2004.

 

Prior to Plattsburgh Corbo has worked with goaltenders at St. Michael’s College and also served as the assistant coach at Bellows Free Academy for 12 years.  Corbo works extensively with goaltenders and player development for USA Hockey and has recently been named to the 2007-2008 USA Hockey Men’s Sled Hockey coaching staff.

 

Corbo earned his bachelor’s degree from Stonehill College where he played two seasons after transferring from the University of Maine.

 

Corbo currently works for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in Nashua, N.H. and resides with his family in Merrimack, N.H.
