According to the Simpsons on Fox website (http://www.thesimpsons.com/#/about), The Simpsons is the longest running scripted show in television history. It began its 25th season in September 2013. Did you know that some of the writers of The Simpsons have been mathematicians? It was inevitable that mathematics would creep into the stories. Sometimes mathematics appears as short, clever one-liners, while at other times the mathematics is woven into the fabric of the story. Some of the mathematical ideas presented are fairly basic and familiar, while at other times they can be exceptionally abstract and foreign to most people. In this presentation, Professor David Gray, PhD  will show some examples of how and where mathematics appears in the Simpsons as well and what it means.
