Office: Tower 1
Henniker, NH 03242
Biography:
Associate Professor of Art History Inez McDermott began teaching at New England College after more than a dozen years curating art and history exhibitions throughout New England. Professor McDermott teaches the Introduction to Art History, 20th Century Art, 19th Century Art, Women and Art, Art and Diversity, and other courses covering a wide range of periods and topics. Professor McDermott often takes students to visit museums and galleries throughout New England to experience the works they have studied in class. Her approach to art history provides fine art majors with the critical tools they need to evaluate works of art and to consider the place of their own art work in relation to the history of art. Students in other majors also benefit from studying art history as they gain a deeper understanding of their own and other cultures through exploring the tangible expression of the events, values and ideals of those cultures.
Professor McDermott continues to curate art exhibitions in New England and often includes students in their planning and implementation.
