Tia Hooper recently joined New England College as the Administrative Assistant to President Michele D. Perkins. Tia brings with her an extensive background in procurement, budgeting, travel, research analysis and emergency preparedness.
Prior to New England College, Tia worked as procurement and financial specialist for the U.S. Courts, where she was responsible for overseeing aspects of the budget, operational manuals and reports, and travel arrangements. She gained extensive experience in coordinating staff, conducting training, and served as the liaison to a variety of constituent groups. In 2010, she was presented with the Innovation Award for development and creation of programs within the federal court.
Tia has also worked for the Merrimack County Sheriff’s Office as the communications specialist, serving as the primary contact for first responders and various state and local agencies. She is connected to the Town of Henniker, having served as the Emergency Management Director since 2008. She was instrumental in ensuring that services were evaluated and restored to the community during the ice storm of 2008.
Tia holds an M.A. in Diplomacy from Norwich University and a B.A. in Liberal Studies, Law & Government, with a minor in criminal justice from Endicott College.
