NEC Hosts Fundraiser for Haiti

Feb 02, 2010

Students at New England College have organized a fundraiser to benefit the victims of the earthquake in Haiti. The program will be held Friday, February 5th at 7:00 p.m. in the Simon Center on Bridge Street in Henniker. Admission is free but donations will be accepted.

In response to the devastating earthquake that recently hit Haiti, students at New England College will host a benefit program featuring Representative Jean Jeudy and musician Gi Frants. Proceeds from the event will be donated to Partners in Health, a non-profit agency in Boston dedicated to bringing health care to the poor in the Caribbean, Latin America, Africa, Russia, and the United States.

Speaking at the program will be Jean Jeudy, member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives from District 10 in Hillsborough. Representative Jeudy was born in Haiti and is the first Haitian-American to serve in the New Hampshire House of Representatives.

Music for the program will be provided Haitian-born singer, guitarist, and songwriter Gi Frants.

The fundraiser for Haiti is co-sponsored by the Art, Literature, and Theatre Collegium and the Knowledge, Growth, and Action Collegium at New England College.
