NEC to Host Fall 2010 "Dynamic Orientation Program"

Jul 19, 2010

The Office of Student Involvement, in conjunction with the Outdoor Leadership, Art, and Environmental Science departments, will host the Dynamic Orientation Program. This pre-orientation program will be held Sunday, August 29 through Friday, September 3 for first-year and transfer students attending New England College, beginning in the Fall 2010 semester.

The week-long, fully integrated program will focus on three areas: wilderness; art; and sustainability.  Students will sign up for one of these areas and participate in a variety of community service projects, field trips, and activities. This hands-on program is designed to give incoming students a preview of the NEC experience before beginning their academic career.

The Dynamic Orientation Program is based on the NEC mission which states “New England College is a creative and supportive learning community that challenges individuals to transform themselves and their world.”

The goals of the program include:
- Developing peer relationships and strong bonds
- Building a foundation for growth
- Attaining an unforgettable experience
- Pursuing ecological sustainability
- Experiencing ethical and responsible citizenship, including service to the community

The cost of this program is $300 and includes food, field trips, and other expenses related to the program. Financial aid is not available. Space is very limited and registration will be taken on a first come, first served basis. Participants must be new students who have never attended New England College.

Students who wish to participate in this program can find the registration form here. Registration forms are due no later than Thursday, August 1. For more information, please contact Megan Hotaling, Director of Student Involvement, at 603-428-2429 or by emailing osi@nec.edu.
