Three New England College Athletes Garner NAC Weekly Awards
Three New England College athletes have earned North Atlantic Conference (NAC) weekly awards for their performances this past week.
NEC women’s soccer forward Alyssa Krause (Northfield, Vt.) was named NAC Player of the Week. Krause led the Pilgrims to two conference victories this weekend totaling five points on two goals and an assist. In Saturday's 2-1 victory over Johnson State Krause came up huge scoring the game-winner 8:18 into the first overtime. Then on Sunday Krause had a foot in two of the three Pilgrim goals, assisting one and recording the game-winner yet again.
NEC men’s soccer forward Ralph Bertrand (Rowley, Mass.) earned NAC Rookie of the Week honors. Bertrand game up huge for the Pilgrims this weekend netting two goals and dishing out an assist. In NEC's 2-1 victory over Johnson on Saturday Bertrand was part of both Pilgrim goals assisting the first score and headed in the game-winner just 41 seconds into overtime. On Sunday Bertrand scored the final goal of the match as the Pilgrims beat Lyndon State 4-1.
Rounding out the awards was first-year cross-country runner Rachel Orlando who was named NAC Rookie Runner of the Week for the second time this season. Orlando ran her collegiate-best 5K race on Saturday at the WNE Invitational. Orlando finished the 5K race in a time of 20:00 good enough for 13th place and was the top finished among NAC first-year runners in the race.
