Dominique Grant - Admission

— filed under:

"My name is Dominique Grant, a freshman from Middleboro, MA. I came to NEC to major in theatre because I had heard from an alumnus how much she had learned in this program. It is a small school and those are often overlooked by potential theatre majors, but I wanted to give it a shot...

...The transition from high school to college was socially distressing for me at first, but other than that I managed to improve my high school GPA by almost a full point. I was also cast in the fall semester's production of A Doll's House. This was such an achievement for me, as a freshman, to be cast in the Main Stage play. The real surprise came earlier this semester when I was cast as the lead in By the Bog of Cats. I appreciate even being able to audition as an underclassman; words can't describe what it feels like to have a role like this before me.

After college I plan on moving into the city and I aspire to be an actress. However, while here at NEC, I have a very busy schedule juggling 18-credit semesters, working part-time in the Office of Admissions, rehearsing 12 hours/4 nights a week, and trying to maintain some social life. I'm also trying to get involved in an up-and-coming wrestling club here on campus. I wrestled in high school and would love to get involved in it again if I could find the time.

Overall, life here at NEC is great... busy but great!"
