Wayne Lesperance
Wayne Lesperance – Professor of Political Science – Professor Lesperance’s political commentary has reached a national audience. During the recent presidential election cycle, Professor Lesperance contributed to more than 100 interviews in newspapers all over the country.
Sachiko Howard
Dr. Sachiko Ito Howard, Professor of Chemistry, was named 2005 Professor of the Year at New England College.
Kevin Harvey
The recipient of the 2007 Robert A. Kilgore Faculty Award, Kevin Harvey has spent more than twenty years in NEC’s classrooms. With a characteristic quip, Harvey says, “I’ve always had the belief that awards are good at the beginning and end of one’s career.” Far from being close to ceding his role as a professor of English, Harvey notes, “You reach a point where you don’t think you can get better at what you do. I’d like to think that I received the award because I got better and people noticed.”
Maura MacNeil
Maura MacNeil – Associate Professor of Writing – Professor MacNeil was a featured poet at Gibson’s Bookstore in Concord, New Hampshire in June
Ali Reza Jalili
Ali Reza Jalili, Professor of Business – Professor Jalili was promoted to full professor and continues his post -doctoral studies in accountancy.
Eric Simon
Dr. Eric Simon, Associate Adjunct Professor of Biology – Campbell Essential Biology (4th Edition) and Campbell Essential Biology with Physiology (3rd Edition) by Eric J. Simon, Jane Reece, and Jean Dickey, are being published by Pearson Education (San Francisco, California).
Mark Mitch
During his introduction of Professor Mark Mitch, 2009 recipient of the Robert A. Kilgore Faculty of the Year Award, Dr. Don Melander described a person with a seamless connection between his teaching and his life. The award was presented to Professor Mitch at the College’s May Commencement, not only for his exemplary teaching but for his ability to integrate his innovative work in sustainability with the mission of the College and the curriculum of his classes.
Glenn Stuart
Glenn Stuart, associate professor of theatre, was honored with the 2006 Robert A. Kilgore Faculty Award at New England College. The award, which was presented by Mr. Kilgore, a trustee of NEC, was made at the College’s Commencement ceremony in May.
Jolene Schillinger
Dr. Jolene Schillinger, Senior Professor of Mathematics – Book, Transformative Discipline: Parenting to Develop Responsible Children, was recently presented at the 11th International Conference for Restorative Practices.
Farid Haddad
When Dr. Don Melander, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of Arts and Sciences introduced Farid Haddad, the 2008 recipient of the Robert A. Kilgore Faculty Award at Commencement, he described a faculty member who, “teaches with all the love and enthusiasm of someone who has just discovered the joys of teaching.” A student’s evaluation of Professor Haddad’s class declared, “This was one of the best classes I have ever taken even though it met at 8:30!” Somewhere between these two accolades is a faculty member who has dedicated his life to art and his career to New England College.
Martha Donovan
Martha Andrews Donovan, Professor of Writing – Professor Donovan’s book of poems, Dress Her in Silk, was published by Finishing Line Press in May 2009.
Susan Redditt
Dr. Susan Redditt, Assistant Professor of Education – Dr. Redditt and four students from the College’s education program, travelled to the Dominican Republic in March during spring break week.
James Newcomb
Dr. James Newcomb, Assistant Professor of Biology and Health Science – Dr. Newcomb co-authored an article on the neurobiology of nudibranchs (sea slugs) that was published in the May issue of Natural History magazine.
Shawn Hackshaw
Shawn Hackshaw, Lecturer in Mathematics – Mr. Hackshaw has authored a technology guide for calculators to accompany a widely-used textbook on statistics.

The roots of Halloween go back to ancient times. Aaron Baily Daniels, Associate Professor of Clinical Psychology, discusses his intensive research on the holiday.
Larry Taylor
The Robert A. Kilgore Faculty Award is presented to a member of the faculty whose distinguished service to the teaching profession is recognized by students, staff, and fellow faculty members. The 2010 recipient of the award is Larry Taylor, Professor of Psychology.
William Preble
The 2011 recipient of the Robert A. Kilgore Faculty Award is Dr. William Preble, Professor of Education. Dr. Hilton Hallock, Vice President for Academic Affairs, presented the award to Professor Preble at the 2011 Commencement of New England College. “Bill is recognized for his thoughtful leadership, engaging rapport with students, and excellent teaching,” stated Dr. Hallock, “He expects the best from people and organizations, and uses his talents to spark innovation and empower ownership and achievement.”
Inez McDermott
The 2012 recipient of the Robert A. Kilgore Faculty Award is Inez McDermott, Associate Professor of Art and Art History. Dr. Hilton Hallock, Vice President for Academic Affairs, presented the award to Professor McDermott at the 2012 Commencement of New England College on May 12.
