New England College Graduate and Professional Studies offers students in certain programs the opportunity to apply and participate in Graduate Assistantships.

 

Coursework and other academic obligations are priority responsibilities of graduate students at New England College. Graduate assistantships typically require 20 hours/per week, with specific schedules determined by the supervisor. Most involve evening and weekend commitments.

Office of Public Information  
To support the efforts of the Office of Public Information at New England College with projects related to the advancement of New England College on campus and in the local and national media. This includes, but is not limited to: writing, editing, research, coordination and coverage of events, development of web content, and dissemination of information.

Undergraduate Admissions
To support the efforts of the Admission Office, primarily in the area of applicant services, by: meeting with students for the purpose of conducting interviews; helping to develop an applicant database and participate in panel presentations; contacting potential and actual applicants to coordinate completion of the application process.  The Admission graduate intern will also assist the Associate Director of Admission in coordinating efforts at the College relating to open house, overnight, and informational programs.

Graduate Admissions
To support the efforts of the Graduate Admission Office, primarily in the area of applicant services, by: meeting with students for the purpose of conducting interviews; helping to develop an applicant database and participate in panel presentations; contacting potential and actual applicants to coordinate completion of the application process, attending recruitment sessions, input applications.

Center for Career and Life Planning
To support the efforts of the Pathways Center, primarily in the area of career services, by: meeting with students for resume writing and career interest inventory work; helping to develop an alumni database and panel presentations; contacting NH employers in order to develop local assistantships, and; developing and publicizing programs.  The CLP graduate assistant will also assist the Dean of Students and Associate Dean of Academic Affairs in implementing retention efforts at the College.

Athletics: Graduate Assistant Recruiter
To provide recruiting services for all women’s varsity athletic programs (hockey, field hockey, soccer, basketball, lacrosse, and softball) through assisting the coaches with the recruiting process.  Handle the initial contacts and scouting efforts and collaborate with coaches and the Office of Admission to maintain communication with prospective students. Work with Athletic Director to ensure compliance with NCAA regulations.

Office of Student Involvement    
To help support the efforts of the student development staff in the area of Student Activities. Assist with advising of student organizations such as the Student Entertainment Committee and Orientation Leaders. Develop and implement leadership development programs. Manage campus events as necessary.

Office of Residence Life
To support the success and retention of residential Working primarily with the full-time residence life staff, implement departmental programs and initiatives and provide direct support to a particular residence area.  Support major department processes (such as room selection and staff training) as well as day-to-day operations.  Help with residential programming efforts, community development initiatives, and responses to crises and policy violations. Live-in position. 

Office of Engaged Learning/College Convention
To support the programming of the Office of Engaged Learning and the Center for Civic Engagement. Manage planning, publicity, and logistics for sponsored events. Assist with planning of political debates and other high-profile civic engagement activities on and off campus. Coordinate assessment of engaged learning activities and support collection of data for surveys related to civic engagement, service learning, alternative breaks, etc.

Office of Advancement
To support the efforts of the Advancement Office, primarily in the area of fundraising, by: participating in the on campus phone-athon; assisting with entering demographic changes in the database; coordinating thank you phone calls/ thank you note cards; assisting with the design of direct mail pieces; creating a culture of philanthropy on the NEC campus; writing several articles for our electronic newsletter. The Advancement graduate assistant (GA) will also assist the Assistant Director of the Annual Fund and Alumni Relations Manager in coordinating efforts at the college relating to Founders Society events, alumni/family weekend and other on/off campus events.
