Teaching and Leadership
The Master of Education program is designed to develop teacher leadership as part of the ongoing goals to improve quality of instruction and student success in schools. In keeping with the New Hampshire State Certification Standards and Interstate New Teacher Assessment and Support Consortium (INTASC) Standards, the rigorous curriculum is data-driven, site-based, and linked to the classroom.

Teacher Certification
New England College also offers an education program that leads to NH State Certification. Contact Debra Nitschke-Shaw, Director of Teacher Certification, at dnitschke@nec.edu or 603.428.2322.

Concentration in School Climate Leadership
Experienced educators understand that students cannot learn if they don’t feel safe at school. It is hard to argue against the idea that the success of all educational programs depends upon the success of our efforts to improve school climate and student safety. Bullying, cyber-bullying, school shootings, and teen suicides have all become front-page news. Many states have passed tough, new anti-bullying laws which make it necessary for schools to ensure that they have well-trained professionals who can develop effective new anti-bullying policies, programs and systems to effectively address these problems.

Superb Reputation
New England College is renowned for its top-quality education department. As part of the department's ongoing evolution, the Master of Education is offered to develop teacher leadership. Graduate students and NEC faculty work as a learning community to address real-world issues of teachers and schools.

Locations
Courses are offered on campus in Henniker and in some school districts within New Hampshire. Courses are scheduled for late afternoon, evening, and/or weekend hours.

Timeframe
Courses are generally run on a semester basis. The Master of Education program is a 32-credit program, and for most candidates can be completed within a two-year period. Students may enroll throughout the year.

Designed for Current Professionals and those seeking Certification
The NEC Master of Education is designed for current practitioners who are already certified teachers and individuals who wish to become certified or add a new certification. The courses offer the highest level of professional interaction in that students have a broad range of teaching experience, in addition to their academic preparation, and can work collaboratively to become effective teachers and leaders.

Superb Faculty
Students study with NEC’s full-time faculty, as well as with highly respected practitioners and scholars from the community. The program is firmly linked to NEC’s outstanding Education department, as it is to the professional teaching community.
