Financial Assistance Application for New students

Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) – Click the link to jump to the FAFSA website. You can submit this form after January 1st to Federal Student Aid Programs. Please note that the FAFSA must be received and fully processed (including signatures) by New England College. The New England College School Code is 002579.
To expedite FAFSA processing, complete the form online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Filing online expedites the process and helps reduce the chance of error. The student AND one parent signature are required for a dependent student. If you are filing online, you and your parent can each sign the form electronically using your own Federal Personal Identification Number (PIN).
*IMPORTANT NOTE*
The student and parent each have a separate PIN, so if you wish to e-sign the FAFSA, please make sure you each acquire and enter your PIN to ensure the FAFSA will be signed by both parent and student.
If you forgot your PIN number you can request a duplicate PIN, or if you have never received a PIN, you can request one at www.pin.ed.gov. There is an option at the end of the online FAFSA process to print, sign, and mail a signature page; however, keep in mind this will delay the process.
To complete your FAFSA online, please follow these instructions:
· First Year Students should select Fill out a FAFSA.
If you filed a FAFSA last year, select Fill out a Renewal FAFSA
· Select 2008-2009
· Print and complete the FAFSA on the Web Worksheet
· Enter the completed information online
Submit electronic signatures ---- The FAFSA is not valid until both student and parent signatures are received (for a dependent student). Lack of signature(s) is the most common error for students and results in weeks or months of delays in processing and potentially in a loss of funding.
· Print and save your confirmation page
· Review your Student Aid Report (SAR), sent to you by Federal Student Aid Programs (FSAP). Online filers should receive an email with a link to your SAR within 3 to 5 business days. Paper filers should receive the Student Aid Report within 3 weeks. It is your responsibility to be sure this is received, reviewed, and corrected if necessary. If you do not receive the SAR, please call 800-433-3243.
Parent’s 2007 Federal Tax Returns & W‐2s
Please submit the parents signed 2007 Federal Tax Return, signed attached with all schedules and W2 forms. Parents who will not file a federal tax return must complete the New England College Parent Non‐Filing Statement. Please send the completed tax return or the non‐filing statement form directly to the Office of Student Financial Services by mail, fax, or by scan and email to sfs@nec.edu.
Student’s 2007 Federal Tax Returns
Please submit the parents signed 2007 Federal Tax Return, signed attached with all schedules (if applicable). Students who will not file a federal tax return must complete the New England College Student Non‐Filing Statement. Please send the completed tax return or the non‐filing statement form directly to the Office of Student Financial Services by mail, fax, or by scan and email to sfs@nec.edu.
